Berlin Baklava

One of the advantages of having the largest community of Turks outside Turkey reside in Berlin is obviously food-related; according to (some) sources, the good old “Döner Kebap“ was invented here.
Along with hearty, meaty dishes (try the Dürüm, try the lentil soup!) Baklava also made it to Prussia, sweets made from puff pastry, honey and nuts, most commonly pistachios. While you can pick up Baklava, which are sold by weight and not per piece at about every self-respecting Turkish Döner place or bakery, go to Sengüloglu for the truly amazing stuff. Offering a wide variety of Baklava ranging from classic, traditional recipes to more modern versions and situated in a nice, unassuming store in walking distance from Hermannplatz, Sengüloglu produces what may be the best Baklava in town. Sweet-but-savory and always freshly made, it’s the kind of buttery honey goodness that will satisfy your sweet tooth and may convert anyone who’s “not really into sweet stuff“. (Souchak)
