Berlin's Chocolate Crisis

We already showcased traditional local chocolate maker Walter earlier, but it seems like it’s almost too late to sing the praises of competitor Sawade. Seems like the economic crisis and changing tastes don’t spare old-time companies: According to news reports, Sawade – around since 1880, employing 50 people and operating three stores – is facing bancruptcy. Check out their excellent stuff available for online ordering, drop by their factory sale (every tues/thurs, noon till 4pm) and keep your fingers crossed. (Souchak)
