RisA : Fried Delights

Combining the weird allure of American fast food franchises with a serious talent for preparing various tasty chicken dishes, RisA definitely qualifies for a quick bite. The smallish chain operates in three locations in predominately Turkish/Arab hoods – which is no coincidence since chicken like beef burgers is quite popular among those who prefer their food to be halal.

At the Alt-Tempelhof place, walking distance from the southern tip of the former city airport (“Tempelhofer Freiheit“), RisA is situated in a nice, roomy, two-floor store, which is as helpful for patrons as the big staff, since it can be quite crowded at peak hours. It’s easy to see the attraction of this muslim KFC: Using charcoal roasted chicken pieces and serving those deep-fried with potato wedges and Coleslaw, it’s fresh, moist stuff in a crunchy but not dry batter that adds just a bit of spicyness to the chicken flavor. If you’re in need of a hearty (and quite affordable) meal or some solid takeaway, check it out. (Souchak)
