Berlin International Film Fest : Looking Ahead

This just in: Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel “ will open the upcoming Berlin International Film Fest (February 6-16). Not the worst idea, but kinda obvious (the Fest always loves to program films that were made in the region). While specifics of the competition line-up are for now unavailable, some titles seem all but set for a  screening: “A Most Wanted Man“ by Anton Corbijn, Brian Percival’s “The Book Thief“ and David O’Russell’s Abscam movie “American Hustle“ are all picture-book BIFF movies. With some release-date fiddling, the Fest might even show Scorese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street“ – which wouldn’t be a surprise, considering the relationship BIFF head Dieter Kosslick has developed with the helmer over the years.
