Voima : Hipster-Free Drinking

If you are looking for a relaxed and Hipster-free cocktail evening in the center of old West-Berlin, look no further than the Voima. Tucked away on the back of Winterfeldtplatz, it’s cozy joint that serves both the neighbourhood drinking men and women as well as assorted insiders. Named after a Finnish icebreaker, with a Finnish flag flying over the door, a miniature model of the ship in the bullseye window and some marine/ice-breaking soundscapes in the bathrooms, the Voima is owned and operated by Barbara „Piri“ Ettel, herself a long-time veteran of Kreuzberg’s “Haifischbar“. Bringing the best of Berlin bar culture to her own place, you get to enjoy some quality Finnish pop music while chosing drinks from an epic menue (sorted by alcohol potency, ranging from the light-weight “mate“ to the serious “captain“). It’s strongly recommended, however, to let Piri fix you up with a drink. Just tell her, what you’re into, she (and the Voima) sure won’t disappoint. (Souchak)
