A Field In England

Just when you thought that he seemingly took a major step towards mainstream recognition with “Sightseers“, director Ben Wheatley walks - or better runs - in the other direction with his subsequent feature “A Field In England“. Set during the British Civil War of the 1640s, it deals with a deserter and his clash with a mysterious alchemist searching for gold. Shot in glorious black and white in a single outdoor location (as the title suggests), Wheatley’s latest offering is more an experiment in fearless filmmaking as it challenges the audiences with a heavily psychedelic experience.
