Image of the day: Taxi!
Like pillars of ancient temples, the Taxi telephone boxes are slowly but steadily disappearing from Berlin’s streets. After the old-time info/phone stations of the Fire Department and the Police, it’s the cabbies’ turn: Their once all important info points (where they answered the phone to receive assignments) have long ago outlived their usefulness with every cab driver using on-board navigation and operating at least (!) two mobile phones in mid-drive. I will sure miss the Taxi sign posts, their crisp, no-nonsense sixties’ look, their inviting night-time light. Times change, I guess. (Souchak)
