Panis Marci
It came from Greece via Venice to northeastern Europe: You either love or hate Marzipan (from “Panis marci“, „Bread of Marcus“), but if you love to properly dig in and get yourself the good stuff, there’s hardly a better place to stock up than “Wald Königsberger Marzipan“. Since the mid-forties the place is selling awesome, handmade Marzipan goodness following the Königsberg (Kaliningrad) recipe, which is flamed, brittle and less sweet and more savory than other variations on fusing almonds with sugar or honey. It’s high-grade, choice stuff, a tad pricey but well worth every cent. (Souchak)
