Soderbergh's Last Movie
Seems it’s true after all: By all accounts, Steven Soderbergh’s “Side Effects“ will be the director’s last movie. While that doesn’t neccessarily mean the versatile filmmaker will stop working (his Liberace bio-pic “Behind the Candelabra“, starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon will air on HBO later this year), it will be pretty interesting to see how long Soderbergh can stay away from the big screen. Anyway, let’s enjoy “Side Effects“ (which will be shown at next month's Berlin Filmfest): Judging from yet available info, expect an indictment of the North American pharmaceutical industry, the power of therapy and culture of pill-popping packaged as a psychological thriller.
