In the last decade, electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk made an impressive transition to the art world - today you will more likely catch them at a museum than a concert venue. Currently the musicians from Düsseldorf celebrate a bit of a home game: At the NRW Forum, Kraftwerk can not only be seen in photographs taken by long-time collaborator and chronicler Peter Boettcher but also heard, with the musicians performing one of their ground-breaking albums every evening (“Kraftwerk – The Catalogue 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8“) before appearing at London’s Tate Modern (Feb 6 – Feb 14). It’s both popcultural time travelling as well as an impressive example of Kraftwerk as a “Gesamtkunstwerk“. (Souchak)
