Exclusively for the Bright Journal, Stylus profiles a selection of key industry shifts to emerge from this season’s event below.
Skate Sophistication
A host of brands exhibited refined premium lines that combine relaxed skate-inspired styling with high quality fabrics and precise attention to detail. While Element launched its Emerald collection off-site, Makia’s monochrome collaboration with Etnies and WeSC’s sharper footwear and apparel pieces all hinted at a more sophisticated take on street styles.
Graphic Camouflage
The story of the season, camouflage is making a comeback as shoes, outerwear and accessories all get a graphic camo treatment. Adidas SB, LRG and Mishka used a standard khaki colourway in their collections, while DC Shoes stood out from the crowd with nylon footwear details and backpacks in a grey alternative.
70s Revivalism
An influx of 70s cruiser skateboards and neon washed graphics sees the skateboard industry’s major players getting back to the roots of the sport. Dogtown Skateboards’ relentless graffiti inspired deck graphics and Globe’s Bantam cruiser board mark a return to old school hardware styling as Vans’ collaboration with Skateboarder Magazine celebrates retro print graphics.
